Radio not working, neither are windows
Radio not working, neither are windows
so a couple weeks ago i got my truck broken into and they ran off with my sub, amp, and aftermarket deck. i got my amp and deck back about 3 days later, and after a week, decided to reinstall it, last nite to be exact.. i soldered every connection and black taped them too to ensure the perfect install. my amp now sits somewhere that requires you to move it in multiple directions to even see the plugs, let alone have an easy time stealing it.
anyway, this morning my setup was fine, everything worked cept for an occasional pop i heard from the speakers (hoping its jus a bad ground). this afternoon my truck sat, and then i turned it on...for a second, it worked, then i tried to slip in another CD, and it jus stopped working. i drive home with no music which makes me VERY grouchy, and run my car on accessory (one-click down from the off) and my deck still doesnt work AND i find out that my windows will not roll up or down. if my truck is on, the window will not automatically roll down (full click down). ive checked all fuses and they seem fine, checked the aftermarket fuse, and its ok, but idk im hoping the battery isnt dead already but anything is possible.
any other suggestions? has this happened to anyone else before?

you might want to take the truck into auto zone and have them check the fuzes for you. You also might want to check the wires to your head unit to make sure they arent touching wire to wire. I installed my head unit and the same thing happend, i checked the fuzes and they looked fine but the interior was burnt when i took it up to autozone. have them bust out there little gadget and they can check it for you. Another tip when your splicing the wires go and grab some wire caps to squeze on the ends of your wires because they hold alot better than electrical tape (which is what cause my short to happen). Hope this helps!
thanks, so i guess its off to checkers for a look see. im like a frequent member there if it isnt for polisher bonnets, its for spark plugs, wires, blah blah blah and etc etc..i guess i didnt electrical tape them good enuff, but i kno for a fact i have 2 sets of wires exposed by solder because i didnt have time to do a perfect button up.. well, now im paying for short-handing my work..damn i wish autozone or checkers were open 24 hour..there should be a store open 24 hours for the addict like me
but yea, turns out i blew 2 fuses, one on the deck and the one down by the dash (no idea what # or what it does, cuz my manual was stolen a month ago) but yea, all that stuff was blown, i jus replaced.
i kno, its like damn u kno i might be tired but right now i could change my oil! only gripe i had about checkers tho is that they didnt have a 5 amp fuse, i had to buy an 'emergency kit' jus to get a 5 amp fuse
