Door Lock Actuators New design
I went to the local Ford parts department Saturday to buy the door lock actuator for the passenger side of my 99 F150. The guy brought out a box and said "yours is interesting". The actuator looks nothing like the one on the truck. He said they made a complete change to them and this replaces the original ( can't get the original). The hitch is you have to replace the rear track on the window to install it. I think from the way it looked it must attach to the rail. The new actuator is about $50 and the track about $90. I told him no, I want the one that matches mine. He said they no longer can get it, have to go with this.
Is this bunk or has anyone else heard of this?
If they have come out with a completely different deal because of all the problems, that is great but now I have to pay 3 times as much? They should pay for this.

im thinking you have the old type actuator that rivets to the door and has a rod running to the latch the newer design clips onto the latch so i would think you would have to change latches to get the new style in there.
i think what might have happened is your build date is before they changed over to the new style. ask to look at a 97 or 98 actuator and see if it looks the same as yours.
there are 2 styles of the new one but they are completely interchangable.
