98 ford f150 dome light & door ajar lights stay on.

I have a 98 ford f150 that the dome lights and the door ajar light tends to stay on for extended periods of time, or just doesn't go out when you close and lock the doors. It seems to do it more in the colder months than in the warmer ones. Last year I pulled the relays out in the fuse panel under the left side of the dash and drove it all winter like that. I put them back in this summer and never had a problem but tonight and a few nights ago I noticed the weather was damp and getting colder and now it's doing it again. I live in Michigan close to Detroit. It really isn't that cold yet. Tonight it is 67 degrees and very humid and wet and it just started doing it. Any suggestions to correct the problem short of removing the relays? Hurry with suggestions. I'm off this weekend and have time to work on it.

mrmopar,

The nasty door switch has raised it's head again!

Do a search using the search feature above and you will find a bunch of hits on this.

The switch is part of your door latch assy. and some, myself included have gotten temp. relief from just soaking the latch with someting like WD-40 thru the end of the door where the bolt enguages.

The next time (if it ever happens) I plan on taking the door panel off and cleaning and or replacing the switch.

Good luck!
