Thumbs down 97 f150 lost all power

I was driving along tonight when all of a sudden my radio quit and then my lights got real dim and the batterylight and seatbelt light came on and then some beeps and the speedo went haywire and alot of lights came on and i just got it in the driveway. I tried to restart it and it just clicked.
i waited 10 min and it started to offer to startup but didnt have enough juice. Could this be the alt or battery. I didnt notice the alt levels because i wasnt looking at the gauge.
any info is appreciated.

Troy

sounds like the alt died then you were running on the battery until it died.

This same problem happened to me just two weeks ago. Barely made it home late at night. Got my voltage meter out and started testing everything and it turned out that it was the alternator. Replaced it the next day and has been working fine since.
