I just worry about airflow to the radiator. Otherwise, it's really cool.

If a company like H&R Springs can do it ..

I figured I was okay :-)

the way I look at it .. this is JUST like putting lights on a push guard right in front of the grill or behind the grill like a lot of guys do ..

There's still PLENTY of room for airflow around these guys ! I assure you .. I've had them in for a few weeks now and there is absolutely NO change in temperature (trust me .. i've been watching it !)

The installation looks pretty darn good. Not sure I want to cut out the grill, I would rather mount the lights behind it. I am still trying to figure out how to improve lighting, either with small driving lights mounted on either side of license plate, or, larger lights behind grill, or higher output bulbs (if available) to replace standard or stock ones. I have an '01 supercab xlt but i haven't figured out if i have the wiring in place for extra lights.

I have decided to puchase the KC Hilites Slimlite driving lights w/ 100 watt bulbs and mount them behind the grill to the upper radiator support. I would like to wire switch lead so that the high beam switch will also turn on the driving lights. Any suggestions on doing this? I am wondering if I will have to wire lead to the switch on the dash or can I wire a jumper cable between the original high beam relay and the new driving lights relay? Thanks,

I'm not sure exactly how you would go about wiring after market lights to come on with your highs .. but I assume it would be alot like this

Good Luck!

AWESOME link Detours_SCrew!

I had another link that described the process, but it didnt have great pics like that. When I install my PIAAs, I will definately be doing this.

As for the grill, what I would LOVE to see is that you cut the holes in the grill, push the lights flush with it. Find a FORD oval that glows blue. And then to finish it off by painting the honeycomb to match the truck...

The glowing oval would DEFINITELY be cool !

as for keeping the lights flush .. that's a little trickier .. I tried to do that when I originally did this mod and found that when I turned the lights on they were pointing out to the sides of the truck about 15 - 20 degrees! I wanted to get them to point more towards the center of view ..

I am going to be painting my honeycomb grill white to match my truck. While I am out scavaging parts at a local salvage yard, I was gonna try grabbing an extra grill to practice on.

Because the look of a smaller set of lights recessed in the grill can look great!

Anyone seen a lighted FORD oval?
