98 F150 Wipers/Windows/Int Light Out

Problem: When door is open, interior lights don't come on. After engine start, power windows and wipers won't work and still no power to interior dome light.

While engine is on, opening the door will power the wipers but only for 2 or 3 seconds and then they stop working again.

Checked fuses and all is good. Weird thing is, this happens 95% of the time, and on a rare 5% of the time, the truck will work as normal.

Any ideas? I do have an aftermarket alarm installed, but it is working properly.

Please help! I look pretty goofy opening my door all the time to get my wiper to clear the rain. Thanks.

Wiper/lights

Hi, I had this problem last winter and now it happened again last night, it got really cold last night.

I know this is due to the cold on some level, last year they rebuilt the wiper system but I think whatever froze up simply thawed out during the process and thats what fixed it.

Did you ever find an answer to this problem, I'd appreciate any info you found out.
Personally I think its some kind of faulty connection or wiring.

This is what I thought might be the problem also, with the exception that instead of water getting in there, there was some condensation in there and it froze up.

I ran the truck for 1.5 hours and heavy on the heater, I got the inside pretty warm and that didnt make a difference.

Man, these GEM modules sure seem like a peice of crap.
I've read so much on these boards about them.

Basically the dealer to the GEM module out, looked it over, everything looked fine to him, he cleaned it up, put it back in and now apparantly everything is fine (I havent picked it up yet).

He mentioned the water leaking thing but, like I said, it was nearly 40 below out.
He also mentioned that the cold could be retracting on a solder point causing it to fail.

Very frustrating.

Finally took my truck in

Okay... just got a call from the dealership. My front windshield apparently leaked water and I need a new fuse panel and GEM module.... $700.

Plus I need my windshield replaced... $350.

Oh.. and Ford designed my ball joints poorly, they need to be replaced at 60k miles.... $490.

And my front pads and rotors are shot... $395.

I owe.... I owe.... It's off to work I go...
