Lights Go OUt

I was driving home last night and the lights just went out. A couple of seconds later they came back on. Makes me think there is a bad connection somewhere. Has anyone else had this problem?
Suggested solutions accepted.

YES, BUT AFTER IT HAPPENED A COUPLE OF TIMES, THEY WENT OUT COMPLETELY. NOW, THE LIGHTS ONLY WORK IF I HOLD BACK ON THE HIGH BEAMS. I ALSO LOST MY FOG LIGHTS. THE TURN SIGNALS WORK, THOUGH, AND SO DO THE WIPERS. I THINK IT IS THE MULTIFUNCTION/DIMMER SWITCH LOCATED ON THE COLUMN. THE COVER HAS 3 SCREWS HOLDING IT TOGETHER, IT IS IN 2 PIECES. I WILL TRY TO REPLACE IT MYSELF, TRYING TO FIND THE PART, I BELIEVE AFTER SEARCHING THAT IT IS A FORD ITEM. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP OR IDEAS ALSO. I WILL LEAVE A MESSAGE HERE AFTER I TRY IT.

Most likely your Multi-Function Switch (MFS) connection in the steering column.

Thanks for the reply. Keep me posted on what you find on the multi-function switch.
It is sort of scary for lights out when you are going down the highway at a pretty good rate of speed and it is just so dark out.
The good thing is I don't do much night driving so I can have some time to try to figure out what the problem is.
