Cruise Control died

'98 F150 with 120K miles, cruise control died after 200 mile trip. No prior problems. Looked at the fuses under the dash, but not sure which fuse controls the Cruise Control. Inspected fuse #5, as I had read this may conrol CC. This doesn't appear to be a common problem.

I common problem for that year is the cruise control switch located on the master cylinder. Pull the plug on the switch and look in the connector. Is there brake fluid in there? If so, then the fuse blew because it shorted out (usually the brake lights go also).

This would where I would start first, as the switch is easy to replace. It could be other things also such as the clockspring in the steering wheel.

Good luck

Cruise on my 97 quit too, it was servo unit mounted under the hood on fenderwell, it operates the linkage. Got one off ebay, unused for $15.00, easy swap.

cruise died too

my cruise system died on my '95 F-150 xcab. that sensor you were referring to on the master cylinder is leaking like a s.o.b.

is that sensor related to the cruise? the death was sudden: it worked great in the morning but in the evening, it died.
