Gagues going haywire and Airbag Code 33

I recently purchased a used 97 F-150 XLT. It started doing some funky things yesterday. The instrument cluster seems possessed. Sometimes the oil gague spikes high then the volt gague and the temperature gague would spike high as the oil guage dropped to low normal. I'm not sure if this truck has the proper battery in it, which could be causing the problem as I have no owner's manual. The truck seems to be running hot to me, though I have no real experience with F-150's. The coolant level is fine in the plastic container, the belts are tight and the fan runs...not sure if I'm looking at an instrument cluster problem or a cooling system problem. I have an analogue odometer, I can't get testing codes that way. Also, when the passenger side airbag is engaged, the airbag light blinks code 33. All of these problems seemed to start occurring simultaneously. Any suggestions?
