Odometer Problem

The other day when I started my 99 F150, I noticed the odometer/trip meter was not lit. I pushed the button and nothing happened. I turned on and off the headlights and still nothing. I had to get to work, so I took off. By the time I looked down at the meter again I had traveled half a mile on a newly paved road and it was on and working correctly. The trip meter was not reset. Any idea of what happened?

This happens quite a bit. The problem is the solder joints in the cluster where the odometer is soldered to the circuit board. You have to take the cluster out and check the solder joints at the back.

Greg,

Thanks for the link. I should have known to try the search function first. Thanks again.
