Question Factory tow light plug

I have a 1998 F150 XLT 4X4 5.4 Triton, with tow package.

I bought this used just a month ago. I have a camper and a boat. The truck has a 7 way round plug from the factory on it. But it does not seem to work??

I have put a tester on every connection and there is no power?? I have gone to the plug above the spare tire and there is power on one side of it, which I belive is for the regular lights? But the other side is dead??

I have checked all the fuses and there is nothing blowen, same it the fuse box under the hood??

What am I missing?? Thanks guys!!

Also the light plug has never been used!! Neither has the hitch!

So it must have been this way from the factory?? The old owner says he never had a use for it so he does not no eaither??

Thanks again

Did you fix it? If not, sounds like maybe relays missing? Look in your o.guide book. Besides fuses, it also takes relays.

Also I think you may find the 12V chg. circuit will have no power w/e. or ign. off. Look for updates.

Good luck...OT

Nope I have not fixed it yet. I will look in the book to see what it says. I have read and checked all fuses and they are all fine. But I did not check relays.

Thanks I will keep you posted!!

You need to check to make sure the relays are even installed in the fuse block in the engine compartment.

Did you check the little fuse block outboard of the large fuse block under the hood? It is about .750 wide X 2" long, and probably has a piece of electrical tape over it. Check these fuses.

I found the problem!! Yes it was a blown fuse. But under the hood there are 3 fuse boxes!!

1. is the big one with all the fuses and relays

2. is the smaller one that Yankee said to look at.

3. when looking at the 2 boxes that are close toghter you can't see the third one under the lip of the fender. It has just 2 fuses a 5 amp and a 20 amp and the 20 was blown!!

Thanks all for your help!!
