Keyless Entry passanger side door
Keyless Entry passanger side door
f150 lariet S-cab 4 door. I set up two new remotes (fobs) to work with the keyless entry system. All worked fine for the first few times locking and unlocking the doors. The passanger side door sometimes will not unlock all the way. Like the servo is not getting enough power to push the lock up. The drivers side works fine. I can use the buttons on the door while the truck is running and the everything works great! I can get out of the truck hit the lock button and it locks both doors, but if i try to unlock it a few seconds later it tries to pop the lock up but not far enough. If you hit the unlock button a few times real fast it sounds like it quits trying to unlock all togather, but the driver side works every time. What is going on here? Is it the main module going bad? Are there relays for each side? I would like to get a book for the truck like a Hanes repair manual. Ideas or tips would be great.
Thanks

I'm not sure what's going on now. I went out and used the remote and it unlocks the drivers side on the first push of the button, and it unlocked the passenger side on the second push with no problems. I got something out of the truck and pushed the lock button twice and both locks locked ok. ?!?!?! what's up with that? Could be an intermitant problem? ANyone else seen this happen before?
the first push to unlock drivers door and the second will unlock all other doors thats the way it is designed. howerver it is not unlikely that your passanger door lock actuator is going out slowly. when you unlock and lock a few times and it just starts wiggling indicates a bad actuator.
thanks mr. bentwrench you just confirmed what i was guessing was happening. So when i do decide to replace that actuator, is it easy to get out? Three torxs bolts and it should come out?
You have to remove the door panel. On '98 and earlier models the actuator is riveted to the door and has a rod that connects it to the latch. On '99 and newer models, the actuator is right on the latch. The torx bolts holds the latch to the door. You do not need remove those.
