Angry spilled gatorade on dashboard...

Spilled about one cup of gatorade on the left side of the dashboard and aprox half an hour later started to hear a clicking noise under the dash similar to the clicking made by the turning signal.
The following day, the speedometer gage does not work anymore, the air bag light is continuosly on, check engine light is continuosly on, and to top it off the AC unit continues to run even after the ignition is off and the key out. I have to put the AC selector **** in the off position and only then it stops. Also the chime is continuously singing when the door is open but the key is not in the ignition...
I checked the fuses and they are Ok...Please, any help ????

Gatorade on dash!

disconect your battery and then re-conect see if this will fix your problem.

the juice could have made it's way to the GEM module. It may need replacing.

I think I have a similar problem:

just this morning, went out to my truck and got in to start it. before trying, noticed radio was on (goes off with key, normally). engine would not start. disconnected battery for a few minutes and then would start. turned off, and noticed that radio wanted to stay on, and odometer reading went to ------ (lines across the display) and temp warning light and check engine light were on dimly. truck started again.

looked under dash, and noticed a box of some kind with some corrosion on it. I had my windshield replaced a year ago, and think maybe they did a ****ty job and water has been dripping on it.

what is the "GEM" box? I think this could be a tough problem!!!

GEM stands for General Electronic (Electrical?) Module and it is located behind the fuse panel in the driver side of the dash about knee level high. There are two HUGE wireing harness that go to it and like you guess, it controls just about every peice of electrical gear inside the truck.

so I took this apart yesterday, and my GEM box looks ok. The fuse box is where the problem is... can see the corrosion seeping out of the box. I guess they're $130 from the dealer which isn't bad if I can't find a used one quick!

130 bones is cheap insurance from having this happen again. I'd opt for the new part myself. There are just some things that aren't worth dealing with in "used" parts, electrical being one of them.

What's really important is finding the source of the problem...

do you have a leak somewhere?

Almost the same problem

I am having my factory radio display flicker or just go completly every now and then along with my odometer display - those are the only problems noted-?

Ever happened to any of you? Never spilled anything on it.

Thanks

PS - This is my first post, by the looks of most of the posts and replies - there are some great people on here.

Tony- I did do the correct sequence (RR, LR, RF, LF) in bleeding. I think it's ok after driving it today (no fading in the pedal)... I'm just wondering if any down the road damage (to the ABS module mostly) can happen if there is some air in there.

tx- did your problems begin at the same time? Do they reoccur together, or independently? best not to assume they are related unless you have good reason to believe such...

not saying they're not, but need some more info to help you out.

oh... that was meant to go somewhere else.... Sorry! anyhow- yeah, 130 is not bad, I agree. I think the problem must have started a year ago when Harmon Auto Glass replaced my windshield per the insurance company... gonna call them tomorrow AM to see about their "lifetime warranty" and covering the damages...
