Airbag light on
Airbag light on
OK guys,
Coming into work this morning, I noticed my Airbag light (lower right hand corner of the dash) glowing. I haven't had time to dive into the Owner's Manual yet. Any suggestions as to what I should look for first?

Here's a few more details from the trip home. When you first start the truck, the airbag light flashes twice, pauses, then flashes seven times. It repeats this sequence several times before staying on solid. Any thoughts?
27 Passenger Air Bag Deactivation (PAD) Warning Lamp Shorted To Ground
if you place the passenger deactivation switch to off with key does the light light up behind the off symbol? with ign. in run position.
this code is ussually caused by a deactivation switch with a burnt out light bulb. most replace the switch in the dash but there is prolly a way to take it apart and put a new bulb in. but i wouldnt play with air bag parts.
the other less likely causes are bad restraint control module or wiring to the deactivation switch. maybe it just came unplugged.
have you had the trim around the radio off lately? if its just a switch it is a real easy repair

Mr_Bentwrench,
Looks like you hit it right on the head. The indicator light does not come on with the key on and the airbag switch turned to the "off" position. (I normally run with this switch off since my son is only 11 years old.)
Sounds like I should just pull the panel and replace the switch assembly. I don't normally mess with anything related to the airbag system either. Something about not liking loud (and expensive) surprises. Is this one fairly straight forward with a plug in switch? If so, I'll run over to the dealer today and grab one. Thanks!
