I just bought a 98 f150 4.6 v8 power everything excepts seats. the man I bought it from didnt give me a keyless entry. I dont think he bought keyless entry with the vehicle. Is there a way to find out? and how much do you think it would cost to get the dealership to put one on, or can i just but a remote and program it myself?

If your truck has power doorlocks it probably has keyless entry your ford dealer should be able to get the remote for you ,but at a hefty price, you may want to go to a local alarm or stereo instal shop and get a remote start system it will have the keyless entry feature and probably cost less than the dealer and you will gain that great feeling of getting in a warm truck at 6am in 10degree weather or a nice cold one when it is 90 outside. usually you check to see if it has keyless entry by cycling the key from the off to on position 8 times in about 10 seconds. stop on the eighth time in the on position and the locks should lock and unlock once. if it does this, it was equipped with the keyless entry. get the proper remote and do this procedure. after the locks cycle push one button on each remote to program and turn key to off position. remotes should now be programmed
