windshield wipers

Can anyone help me with this one?

Every so often when I am driving my wipers will come on a few times then go back off without me touching anything.

From: Somewhere in Wisconsin(for now)
I'm assuming they are turned off when this happens. Any problems with the turn signals? Or the high/low beam on the headlights? These are all part of the same switch. I believe Ford calls it the multifunction switch. Sounds like this may be starting to fail. You can try cleaning the contacts and also make sure its screwed in tight. Otherwise replace it. You don't need to rip the dash apart like I did if you decide to try to repair this yourself. Remove the upper steering column molding and then you can unscrew the switch. When mine failed is was only available through Ford(I remember about $70). It's worth calling the parts houses first as they will be cheaper if they have it.

Yeah it is when they are turned off. I have not started to have any problems with the headlights or the turn signals. But I will pull it apart and take a look to see what I can find.
