Battery Cables and Starter Motors
Battery Cables and Starter Motors
I just got my 2001 SuperCrew back from the shop today after it wouldn't start over the weekend. It needed the battery cables replaced and a new starter motor. I have heard in the past that the starter motors in Ford vehicles fail frequently, so no great surprises, but the battery cables were completely corroded after only 80,000 miles. I never heard of this being an issue before. When I found the location of the starter I see why it has problems. It is under the engine. It seems to have had a steady flow of water on it from the air conditioner condenser, as the battery cable appears to be a nice conduit for the water to flow off of the condenser. This is all that I could see as the issue relative to why the battery cables failed. BTW both + and - cables were bad.
Has anyone else seen this problem on newer F150's?
