Quick question.....I would like to add an aftermarket system, just wondering what the alternator output on a '97 XLT Supercab 4x2 4.6 V8 is. I am adding an aftermarket system, and I would like to know how much power I have available. I couldn't find it in the manual. Thanks in advance.

 

The standard alternator is a 90 amp unit. The optional High output one is 140 amps.
You can get the HO alternator at the dealer for U$250 or on Ebay for U$75.

This is just another option, I don't know what the aftermarket system you are installing is, but it is just an option, if you need the additional power. I am still running the stock HO ALT, but don't have a heavy draw item ( stereo, winch, etc ).

I want to say this was a member from CA ??? Drawing a blank at the moment on who to ask about it. I'll try to find out who it was.
