Need advice - Multifunction Switch?
My trailer lights (turn signals & lights) have stopped working w/1997 F-150. They work with my Chevy truck so I know the trailer lights are OK. The Ford dealer told it was probably the multifunction switch & requested about $400.00 to fix. I said,"No,thanks", because they didn't seem sure it was the switch. Everything works OK on the truck itself. No blown fuses - at least none I could see. Any suggestions?
Is the trailer connector on the F-150 a factory connector, an aftermarket one like a Hoppy, or a DIY one ?
If it is a factory one, have you checked fuses #5, #19 and #20 in the power distribution panel ( under the hood ) ?
Have you put a meter on the connector using the ground from the trailer harness to the parking lamps, or the left or right stop / turn lamp pins ?
Just a few questions on the topic, if the headlamps, and parking / turn lamps on the truck work fine, I woudl think the multi-function switch is fine.
Good luck, let us know what happens
