CB Radio Suggestions?

Howdy all, I'm looking for a good "intro" CB radio.
Anyone got suggestions?

I've got a handheld cobra, but I'd rather go with a unit I can mount in my truck.

Any advice would be appreciated!

cb suggestions

It depends on what you want out of the radio. I think personally that cobra is the best buy. Iv'e tried other brands though the years and cobra was the best overall. You can still get a great basic 40 channel radio for under $50.00 so, I would go to the cobra web site to look.

Cobra is a good brand for the money, but if you want a bit better quality go with a Uniden, they are built by the same company but the Uniden CB is by far a better quality CB, be expected to pay a little more tho.

not true

I do agree that either uniden or cobra are both great radios. But thats were the similarities stop they are not made by the same company and have'nt been for many years. Uniden is no better of a radio than cobra price wise they are the same the quality is no different, although if you do go to add toys like echo or anything cobra tends to handle it much better, where as the uniden tends to squeel. the main reason i say this is because these are common misconceptions about the two radios also i am a cb technician i work in a cb shop in kingdom city, MO

I have had a Cobra 25 WX NW ST (not sure if I put all of the acronyms in the right order) now since 2002. It is my first CB Radio and it still works perfect. I really like all of the features it has, including the weather-band and weather alert.

I think the radio costs $130 now at most places (I paid $250 for mine back in the day.) I also would recommend getting a good antenna, like a Wilson 5000 magnet-mount. My current one must be a 500 watt (it's really crappy I can tell you that) and you can only broadcast within a few miles (yet you can still hear guys from states away.) I plan on getting a Wilson 5000 magnet mount so I can talk to the same guys my current antenna can hardly pick up on.

Don't forget to get a PA speaker to have fun in parking lots with.
