wiring harness

greetings, i have removed, rebuilt and reinstalled the e4od in my f-150 and noticed the solenoid wiring harness had been, well, yanked so hard that about 2 inches of the copper wire on all wires going into the connector were exposed! in the process a small block (resistor or diode or something) with two small guage red wires was stripped off completely with no indication of where it might go. i have consulted the shop manuals from ford and came up with nothing. this "block" looks like factory but i am unsure. i am the second owner, the first owner was a fleet or company truck, they did things by the book. they may have added this "block". either way, does anyone know where this thing gets wired up to and does it matter if it is wired up or not?

please help
