Alternator Problem - can't find "Mega" fuse

My wife got stranded Sunday night when the alternator went out and the battery finally died. We jumped the battery for 45 minutes to let it charge and then drove 15 miles to my parents house.

I got a new alternator Monday and installed it. I also charged the battery. Everything seemed fine except the battery light on the dash wouldn't go out. So I drove it approx. 3 miles and had the battery tested at a local Autozone. The battery tested fine but when we checked the new alternator it wasn't charging. I decided to drive back to my parents to pull it again. I made it about 2 miles before it died.

So yesterday I took the new alternator back and exchanged it yesterday. They tested both the alternator I was returning and the new one. The new one we thought was bad really was and they tested the newest one before I left and it tested OK.

I installed it and the battery light still won't go off. I retested the battery and it tested fine. The Haynes manual says if the light stays on to test the alternator Mega Fuse. I even shows a picture of the fuse on the firewall next to the starter relay. Mine is not located there. I spent a couple hours looking under the hood and still can't find the Mega fuse. My truck is the V6 4.2L, I imagine the picture in the manual is a V8 model.

Any idea where the mega fuse is located on the V6 model?

Try the power distrubution box mounted in the engine compartment on the fender well. You could also try tracing the power wire from the alt. back to where it connects.
