88 F-150 would crank but not start...

(fixed)...88 F-150 would crank but not start...

I spent about three days working on this problem and I'm thankful this forum's here.

I had the same problem that some of you have had, with an intermittent sputter then deadness. I then checked for spark and had none, so I tested the ignition module, pickup coil, and ignition switch... all good but still no spark/start. After replacing the fuel pump in the center cell I went on to check the pump relay like someone had mentioned before in an earlier thread. That's when I found a wire going to brown relay next to the fuel pump relay totally disconnected due to corrosion eating it up. Bada-bing! Back in business again.

Now all I have to do is tweak the timing, fix the sending unit, speedo cable, and recycle the old center cell fuel pump to the rear so I've got both tanks up. 550,000 miles (showing but more like 700K) and still going strong, baby!

Is that not "Built Ford Tough" or what?

Side note: If you need electronic components, pick them up anywhere but Advance... they seem to be made by the lowest bidder in a third-world country.
