Pwr door lock ops? - any Ford Techs in the board?

I posted this on the 04 F150 board but also posting here in hopes of help.

Installed electric tailgate release in my 04 Screw. Connected the actuator to the power leads going to the left rear door expecting one click of the remote keyless entry would unlock the driver’s door (as is normal) and the second click would unlock the remaining doors (as is normal) and the tailgate. Did not work this way. On click unlocks the driver’s door and the tailgate, the second click unlocks the remaining doors and the tailgate again. Using the keypad on the drivers door also unlocks the driver’s door and the tailgate.

Does anyone know if the actuators in the passenger and rear doors have some capacitor or other electronics built in which results in the first click of the remote energizing the actuators and the second click within a brief period of activating them? Or does anyone know the leads to tap into so that the tailgate actuator only unlocks when the passenger and rear doors unlock?

Thanks, Screwdrive

Are you spliced into the PK/BK and PK/OG wires? These are common on RF,RR, & LR doors and not common to the LF.

Danny:

I am not sure which wires were tapped and I did not get a chance this past weekend to check it out. Hopefully will do so tonight. Based on what you noted I suspect the lock is not connected into the PK/BK and PK/OG wires. Do you by chance know the lock / unlock wire colors for the LF door?

Danny:

In the LF channel I did not find a Pink/Orange wire. I finally removed one end of the rubber boot between the LR door and door support and found no Pink/Orange but with my heandy-dandy test light I found a solid pink wire that unlocks the LR, RF, & RR on the second click of the remote & when the unlock button on the LR front door is pressed. Intersting, there is a solid pink wire in the LF channel but it is a different guage wire than used for the locks and appeared not to have anything to do with the door locks. I found the desired pink wire in the LR door channel. I tapped into this wire with the unlock lead going to the electrice tail gate release & noe it operates as desired.

Thanks for your information.

Were we talking about an 04 Heritage (old style), or new style body?

It would be the new body built in September 03.
