Angry Intermittent Starting Problems

I have had some intermittent starting problems. 97 4.6 Auto. Seems to occur when it gets near or below 32F. When I turn the key, I get nothing. No clicks, no turnover, nothing. The Battery is OK; the starter is OK. After it warms up, it will start. I began to think that it was a faulty Transmission Range Sensor. On one occasion jiggling the shifter resulting in a successful start. However the last time this happened, no matter how I moved the Shifter - no start. I let the truck sit overnight. The next day was it got up to 50F, and the truck fired right up.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Big Daddy

If you don't even get a click from your solenoid the I would at least check the connections on the solenoid and CLEAN them.

You say the battery and starter are ok. Does that mean you took them somewhere and had them checked?

I would check all the connections ( including trans position sensor) for clean and moisture. might have moisture in a connector and it freezes when real cold.
