Programming a transponder key

When I purchased my truck, I had only one key. I took it to Ford and paid 80 dollars to have a new one made. Now I am thinking I better play it on the safe side on create another back up so I don't get popped 80 dollars again. Can I do this? I know you need two keys, although one didn't come from the factory so I am not sure. A walk through would be fantastic if this is possible...

i got 2 keys on ebay for $20. get them cut at walmart (no charge just for the cut). put an original key (already programmed) into the ignition, turn to the "on" position without actuallly starting the truck, for 2 seconds (or so). turn back to off position, insert second original key (within 5 seconds), and repeat. repeat with the new key. the "theft" light will flash to show it worked. this is with 99 and newer ford trucks, if you have an older one, there is a different procedure. i have it all on paper somewhere, i will look for it later.

The procedure should be outlined in your manual.
