I have a 99 orp scab with the digital odometer. A month or two ago the odometer would go blank and then come back on. The mileage would keep counting. I can tap on the instrument cluster and it will come back on. Is there an easy fix for this?

 

I have the same problem as you do, I have been trying to make time to get it fixed. My local service manager says it is caused by a loose connection to the bulb that sits behind the odometer, mine can be visible for hours then out for hours, but still reads accurately. The panel in front of the cluster has to be removed in order to fix the loose connection, the service guy said that they could fix the problem for 1.0 hour of labour charge.

I had the intermittent LED odometer problem in my 2000 F150. This past August I took the instrument panel out and found a cracked solder joint on the circuit board. After resoldering this joint I have not had any more problems with the odometer. Below is a link to a post in which I described the repair:
