88 F150 - Ign Lock Cyl, Wipers, Radio?

My dad has an 88 F150. Yesterday, the windshield wipers and the radio quit working. For about 6 months, the wipers had been a little funny, but if you moved or wiggled the switch, it would work ok for a while.

Earlier today, Dad called and was stranded at Hardee's. He said he couldn't even get the key in the ignition. In the past, you could turn the ignition and start the truck without the key, but you could always still get the key in in the "off" position.

I realize that more than likely we need to replace the ignition lock cylinder, but my main question is does the lock cylinder have anything to do with the wipers or radio? If independent of the lock cylinder, does the wiper motor or switch have any connection to the radio?

What is involved in replacing the lock cylinder? Is it similar to my 94 Explorer where you push in a pin and the cylinder slides out?

I just was able to look at the truck a few minutes ago. The key will go in the lock cylinder just fine, but it will not turn to start or accessory. It's pretty stuck. Does the key have to be in the start position in order to remove the lock cylinder?

the key has to be in the run position and bolth the radio and wipers are hooked to the run and acc. position. you may need an ign. sw.

Thanks for the info. As it turns out, dad got the truck towed before I had much of a chance to work with it.
