Windshield Sprayer Problem

Recently purchased a 1997 f150 xlt. When I depress the windshield washer/turn signal arm to clean the windshield, I have to hold it at a certain angle to get the motor to work. When I press straight in, nothing happens. The blades don't move, and the motor doesn't even try to spray fluid. If I press in, and pull down or towards me it begins to work.

The truck is under warranty, so it is difficult to get work done, unless I know exactly what the problem is. Any ammunition for the dealer would be much appreciated, since I am not excited about doing jobs myself that are covered.

Thanks for any help.

Chan

If it still under warranty I would take it to them, as it needs a new multi-function switch. You will find plenty of info. on the same if you do a search.
