Blinker Prob.? M/F sw

I've got what appears to be a variation on a common blinker prob.
My 2001 F150 blinkers will not flash at all, in fact the don't work at all. Then I discover that when the brakes are applied and the brake lights are on I can move the turn signal lever left or right and the blinkers for that side come on as the lever passes a certain position. They want blink, but when the brakes are applied I can move the lever back and forth to make the lights blink. Also the hazards work, even when the brakes are apllied. The brake lights are obviously tied to the problem. I've already tried cleaning the contacts on the M/F sw with no success. I'm wondering if I need to replace the M/F sw or could there be a flasher problem? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Try moving the tilt wheel all the way up and see if that helps. If it does than the plug in the back of the multifunction switch needs replacing, if does not help, than more than likely you will need a new multifunction switch.

Thanks, I tried moving the column. The other day while using the left turn signal and hold it in the location that will get the lights on, they actually started blinking. The happened only once and hasn't again. I'm probaably going to replace the M/F swithc and hope for the best.

Make sure to check the big grey connector to see if the wires are locked into it. When you pull it off of the M/F switch slightly pull on the wires and see if they pull out of the plug, it's a very good idea to replace it. Good luck.
