Angry Not What I Wanted For Christmas!!!!

When I attempted to start my 2001 SuperCrew on Christmas morning, I turned the key and got NOTHING!!! No prior warnings, nothing.

I tried a different key to eliminate the PATS, made sure it was in Park, tried it in neutral, cleaned the battery terminals, everything.
No good.

I seem to have plenty of power - all gauges, chimes, lights work fine.

Suggestions? Similar experiences?

Help!!

If it was the PATS system, the engine would turn over but would not run. The PATS system disables the ignition. Also the theft light would flash on the dash.

Would your engine turn over at all? When you did try to turn it over, did the lights and gauges stay on, or did they temporarily go out?

If the lights and gauges did go out, your battery is discharged. You need to try starting it with a charged battery.

If not, something is preventing the starter from engaging. My first guess would be the neutral safety switch. You might be able to try and look for the switch on the transmission and make sure the wires are not hanging loose.

Good luck.

No Start

If it is not turning over, or if nothing is happening it could be the starter solenoid. At least that is what it was on my 2000 Supercab when that happened. The dealer at first thought it too was the neutral safety switch. Just a thought. Good luck.
