Sylvania Silver Star Halogen Headlights
i look in owners manual and pulled the tab's up and outward, but how do you get the headlight assembly out?I'm afraid to pull to hard and break it am i missing some little trick.thanks again for your help
For those that have put in Silverstars, have you had to readjust your headlights. Ever since I put in silverstars for both the headlights and the 9005s in the foglights, I get flashed all the time by oncoming traffic at night. Sure the light and colour output is a bit better, but I don't like annoying other drivers that much. Comments?

They say to "gently" remove the headlight so it should not take much force.
I tried it on my truck and can't get the headlights out "gently".
I will have to try 2000FordStyle's way by removeing the turn signal lights when it warms up a bit.

rmicroys,
I put them in my Headlamps and fogs also and they are bright. I had first put in the L headlamps and had them re-aimed at that time. After installing the Silverstars I had the dealer recheck them when it was in for warranty work due to getting "Flashed" once in awhile also. They said they were right on the money and within the range they needed to be. I think its just a more intense light being emmited and it looks like the brights are on. If your in doubt if they are aimed correctly it can`t hurt to have them checked. You may get lucky and have it done for no charge like they did for me
I put them in my wifes Focus wagon also and she has never gotten flashed with them so it may be a height factor on these trucks figured in it all too....
It also helps to try and wiggle the lights a little when pulling them out. The first time I pulled my old lights out they were in their pretty tight. I found by removing the turn signals it gives you a little more room to wiggle and pull if they are not moving freely.
Rockpick,
Everytime you post about the "HID" kit it makes me want them more. I may end up getting in trouble because of you

The trick to removing the headlight assembly is to gently lift up on the tabs. If they don't come up easily, look down the side of the sliders (using a flashlight) and look for a little spring tab that sometimes gets caught on the way up. On some trucks I've had to "assist" this tab a bit with a 90 degree pick. (A little WD-40 doesn't hurt either.) When you look down there, you'll also see the spring tab that engages the adjuster that you need to get past. I've also had problems on some trucks where the tab slides back down after it releases - blocking the adjuster from releasing. Again, a quick look with a flashlight will help.
Once you release the assembly, I find it easiest to push the assembly towards the front of the truck using my finger against the back of the bulb assembly. Once the assembly is out far enough, simply release the tabs holding the wiring harness to the bulb and you're in business. Remember, don't touch the glass part of the bulb. More problems? Drop us a note.
