Angry No Headlights...

So what became of your headlight prob? I have a 98xlt, went to drive the other day and no headlights, fogs and park work. Are we the only 2 people who have had this happen? Someone Help, Ford wants $90 just to pull it in their service garage, and I have no vaseline...

I too am having headlight problems!
I have a 98 f150, 4.6. I was driving home tonight from Vermont (about 5 hours driving) and my headlights went out completely for a sec then came back on when I hit the highbeam. It did it twice, just the headlights nothing else and came back on both times when I hit the highs. I havent had a chance yet to check anything with fuse contacts or anything. I had a feeling someone else might have had similar problems...any one have any ideas?

When this happens again try jiggling the multifunction switch ( rather then switching to high beams ).

Some times the multifunction switch gets crapped up, and this can be 1 cause for loss of headlamps.

I would look to this to have the symptoms of no headlamps, but the parking and dash lights work.

If you have a loss of dash lights with this symptom, then I would look towards the headlamps switch itself.

Here is one of the threads on Multifunction switch probems, and the cleaning prcedure if you don't want to buy a new one.

Good luck, let us know how it goes

Thanks SSCULLY, sounds like you nailed it! Its gotta be as I could find nothing else wrong and the highbeam switching is connected to the multifuncion I believe so putting the highs on probably wiggled it enough to make the contact. I havent been able to replicate the problem yet but im sure it will happen again some night this week before I can get to it. When it did happen yesterday though the headlight switch had no effect and the dash lights turned on and off normal so its gotta be the dirty multi function contacts, thanks again!

Lights

Well, mine turned out to be something totally different...I replaced my OEM headlights w/some aftermarket headlights....Seems they fried my sockets...So hopefully a new set of sockets and I will be up and running again, oh, and new OEM headlights....
