Cruise Control
Hello all. My cruise control stopped working a while back and after driving my fiance's car with cruise, I realized how much I missed it.
I have performed all the tests outlined in my Hayes manual but did not find anything out of spec. I realize this only tested the switches.
I tried to perform the test JMC outlined but I wasn't able to even confirm that I had entered diagnostic mode. The do this, I tried holding the ON button while I turned the ignition clockwise without engaging the starter. I did not get the cruise light on the dash, blinking or steady.
I ran through the tests outlined on a Ford service CD I got a while back too. I am getting 12+ volts between pins 7 and 10 on the servo plug which I assume means the fuse is good. It says to measure the resistance of the deactivator switch. It says the resistance should be more than 5 ohms. If not, replace it. Well the new one I bought has resistance less than 5 ohms out of the box.
Any ideas where to go from here?
All brake lights work including the middle high mount by the way. There is no leaking brake fluid around the deactivator switch. OK, enough rambling, let's see if anyone out there can throw me a bone.
Thanks,
James

Thanks for the reply. I did check the horn. It works fine. Other things I have heard to check work as well such as the blender door and high mount brake light. I have checked every fuse in the interior location and power distribution box in the engine compartment. All fuses and relays work. I wish this was the answer. Thanks again for the help.
