Question Where to tie into interior lights for running boards?

I want to add some courtesy lights to my running boards. Where do I tie into the interior lights?

I want the new running board lights to come on when the interior courtesy lights are on. (with remote key unlock, doors open...)

Thanks!!

Also, any good ideas on what lights to add?

CCarrara,

Splice a fused, (10 amp) wire from the Interior lamp relay circuit just before the wires go into each door to the door courtesy lamps. Should be Black with Light blue stripe wire.

Open the door and you will see a black rubber accordian hose that covers and protects the wires going into the doors. Pull A-Pillar lowar trim panels (kick panels ) off inside the truck and look where those wires go out from under there to the doors. I would recommend a flashlight and moving the front seats all the way back. To remove the A-pillar kick panels you have to pull up the door sill scuff plates. Then pull up on the weather strip to get out of the way and then pull on them towards the rear of the truck. They just snap out.

That's what I thought you meant. BUT, I have a Screw, and there is NO access to the drivers side door boot. Brake pedal, handle, release and some other crap in the way...

Do ya know where that black w/ Light blue wire eventialy goes....?

Try the passenger side first. The driver side will be the mirror image except for the E-brake. If you want you can run a wire across the truck and splice into the passenger side. The wires come out of the fuse box and then split and go to either side. You can always tap into the fuse box.... Let me know.

Yea, that's what I'll do, run it across from the passenger side. No way of splicing into the wire after it comes out of the fuse box but before it does a disapearing act behind the brake crap, huh?

CCarrara,

You could, but it gets quite cramped in there. Don't forget to put an inline fuse in the circuit. That is why it is best to pull off the relay just after it comes out of the fuse box. Went out to have a look at mine and I noticed that the driverside door courtesy light is burnt.
