Volt gauge, console, 4wd switch problem??

I have a '97 Expedition 5.4. Sometimes when you start it, the overhead console works fine and others it doesn't light up at all. The display and the map lights do not work. At the same time this happens, the volt gauge hits bottom as if no charge, but when the console is working properly, the gauge reads normal. Also, I found out this morning that when the gauge, and console are not working, the switch for the 4wd doesn't work either. When it started working ok later, the 4wd would engage fine then. The truck runs fine, no start problems, reads 12 volts when tested with a meter, etc. Could this be just a wire loose or something worse? Has anyone had a similar problem? Thanks Steve

Hey guys, I found out the 97 F150 and Expedition have a problem with the fuse panel not keeping the fuses in tight. This fixed my problem and may help you others out in the future.
