ok here we go, it a 88 bronco full size, problem is the rear window what a surpise. ok is a new window motor, the window goes down fine but when you go to put it up wont go up, but ill explain what i did so for to help everyone out, two wires go to the motor when the window goes down one wire has power the other doesnt, when you try to put to window up both wire have power, but when you touch the wire that should have no power the window goes up, i was thinking the switch is bad but i dont want to throw money at it and not fix the problem, any help will be great thank you monty
When you say “touch the wire” do you mean by touching it with your hand, finger? If that is the case it sounds like you have a loose connection, or if it has a terminal at the end of the wire that plugs into the motor then the “crimp” of the terminal to the wire is bad. Could be corroded, broken strains, etc. If it is a terminal lug on the end of the wire I would get a new one then cut the old one off and crimp the new terminal lug onto the wire.
If it seems that the terminal is loose on the motor connection then you might be able to tighten it by getting some pliers and squeezing the terminal lug to make sure it is nice and snug on the motor connector. If they are not tight connections then there will be a very high resistance in the circuit which could result in not enough power to operate the motor.
Don’t know if any of the above will help, but it’s a shot. Good luck and I am sure some others will come along with other recommendations…
