Cool Dual Batteries on 99?

Well I got two brand new 1000 cca batteries sitting here, and I would like to to a dual set up in my 99 F-150. I plan to keep one in the stock location, and put the other in the box, connected by two gauge wires, and some sort of isolater/solenoid? is there a proper way to do this or just +to+, neg to neg, with a solenoid on the + and a switch to it? Thanks for the help.

Sorry, but what you are trying to do is a lot more complicated than running two wires to the second battery. The voltage regulator is on the alternator. When its cold it puts out higher voltage, and less voltage when warm. Since the Stock battery is under the hood too, this works out fine. IE the battery is in the same temperature environment as the alternator. When you remote locate a battery the temperature is different so you end up supplying the wrong voltage to it. This will greatly shorten the batteries life. You will also need a manual or remote operated isolation switch. Both are really nice! If you are planning to run both the batteries for a Winch, etc. you need to be able to isolate surges to your Vehicle's computer and delicate electronics. If you can't put both the batteries under the hood you will have to have the alternator reworked and put a (2)regulator at both batteries. Check the web for boating electrical systems and check the off road sites as well.
