Lariat headlight switch

I have an 01 Lariat Screw. I always have the headligh switch turned to the left. The lights go on when I start it, and off a few second after I shut it off.

I never thought much about it untill yesterday. I was parked up against a cement wall. When I started the truck the light went on, then turned off.

Do these headlights have a day/night switch?

My '03 does. the lights do not come on until it is relatively dark. They will come on in a tunnel but go off right after I come out the other side. They also do not come on in the daylight when I start the truck

Well the days are short and the skys are heavy overcast. Maybe this week the daylight is at the turn on/off point in the morning and evening.

The switch, when turned to the left, is in the AUTO position and will shut on and off based on lighting conditions.

Thanks! The did a good job on the design if I drove around for a year and never noticed that until now.

I had that on a 92 Bonniville with this feature, and the lights were on and off all the time when I dove under trees, or clouds passed over etc. I finally just taped up the eye and left them on all the time.

I have not seen any eye, I wonder where it is.

The light sensor is located inside of your dash immediately under the windshield.

Look for a tiny slotted opening in the dash...

Thanks RockPick, easy to find when you know what you're looking for. I'll have to remember not to throw my gloves up on the dash, or maybe to put a pair there on bright rainy days.

I'll turn the fog lights on if there's fog, but I have developed this strong habbit of never turning the lights off. It's a nice concept that I think shoud be on every vehicle.
