No Headlights
No Headlights
1997 F-150 with no low beam headlights or fog lights. I've checked all fuses inside and under the hood. Bright lights work only in temp position. The park lights work. Where is the fuse/relay? Sid
Thanks SSCULLY.

Sounds like it could be an issue with the nulti-function switch ( turn signal lever ).
If the contacts get crapped up on the multi-function switch you can have all sorts of problems with the lights.
If you do a switch on the term, there are several posts on taking it apart and cleaning the contacts, to see if it helps, rather then starting out buying a new one.
The other that might be it, is the headlamp switch itself. Do the parking lamps come on in the first position ?
You could also check for the power being applied to the multi-function switch from the parking lamps directly.
The flash to pass function by-passes the multifunction switch contacts ( but still runs through the harness ).
On the headlamp switch, the Red/Yellow wire is what puts power to the multifunction switch for the high beams. Doing a search on the fog lamp mod, will tell you how to remove the switch, if you cannot get the probes behind the switch while in the dash.
The Red/Yellow wire from the multifunction switch applies power to the central junction box (Fuses 26 & 28 ), and the fuses for the head lamps in the high position. After the central junction box, the wires are Dk Brown / White & Dk Brown / Orange.
The Gray / Orange wire is what goes to the fuse in the central junction box ( fuse 16 ) for the low beam.
Maybe yanking the fuses from the central junction box, and checking one side of the fuses when operating the high and low beams is an easier place to start.
Sorry for the roving pontifications, I was typing as I thoguht of things.
Good luck, let us know where you get to.

No headlights
Thanks SSCULLY. You were right. This evening when I left the job I jiggled the dimmer switch several times and the headlights came on. To clean the contacts will I need to remove the steering wheel? Thanks again. Sid
Good to hear it is targeted at that.
Yes to take it apart you need to take the bottom out of the steering column I think. Try a search on the term multifunction.
Here is one thread, that pertained to the windshield wipers, but it is the multifunction switch all the same.
