Weird ! My truck autolocked

Weird thing happened last night. Turned the truck off, got out (in my closed garage) with the key in the ignition. About 10 seconds later the lights flashed and the truck locked itself !

Luckily I had my spare set in the house AND I have the keyless entry pad on order.

Has anyone had this happen to them?

maybe the neighbour across the street has the same frequency and is playing games on you... you know like when TV remotes end up being on the same frequency.

Just a thought

Just after I got my 99 Lariat my boss got a 99 XLT with all the extras so it looked like the Lariat trim. The freq to unlock was the same. His was a deep wedgewood blue with silver trim and mine was deep wedgewood blue with gold trim. At night in the parking lot they look exactly the same. At least once a week one of us would get in the wrong truck.

This went on for about a year until he lost a set of keys and when he had them replaced he had the freq changed.

Good point. Funny thing is as I pulled in the drive tonight I went right past a red 2003. Could have been him I guess.

autolocking-Yes, it has happened to me...

Happened to me twice, and both times I thought it was just because of the Ford security system, for some dumb reason that's what it was SUPPOSED to do, maybe so a stranger couldn't walk up and turn the key and go.

But I never investigated further, and haven't made that "mistake" again.

That and the fact that everytime I walk out to my truck and try to open the passenger door and it's LOCKED, makes me wish Ford would leave the safety-proofing to seat belts and air bags.

Once was enough for me. I bought the remote keypad system for Ford and will be installing it this weekend. I don't like to keep a "hidden" key on the truck and don't want to have to hitch a ride home if I accidentlally lock it. Also helps on service. I've had the service department leave the truck out with the key locked in the console before. That way I pick it up at my convinience.

B-rider... You can turn Autolock off, look in your owners manual. At least I can on my 03 Lariat.
