I bought a 2001 Lariat Supercrew with 10,000 miles on it a few months back. I love the truck, but the alarm is driving me nuts.

Everytime I unlock or lock the door with the remote, it honks--loudly. If I use the keyless entry pad, the alarm goes off after until the combination is complete, even though all the keys are correct. When I get out of the truck, it honks when the last door is shut, and then again when the alarm arms--unless I hit the lock button first, in which case it honks immediately...about half the time...with no definable reason for why it honks sometimes, and not others.

I need the alarm, and I like the auto-arm feature, but there has to be some way to arm it silently too. I'm sure it's bothering my neighbors even more than me. Afterall, if I need something from my truck at 3:00am, I'm probably already awake.

Any help would be greatly apreciated.

is this factory alarm or after market. it has to be after market. i dont think 01 has factory alarm just keyless entry.

 

You definitely have a non-factory installed alarm - Ford did not offer any factory-installed alarm for '01 F150 (although the dealers do install add-on systems). You should be able to find the control module under your steering column to find out which manufacturer the system came from and contact them for help.
