Question welding,on a'98 ,will the electronics be ok?

I,ve got a 1998 F150 4X4 supercab and I'd like to weld on some acc.(camper tiedowns,brackets, ) and repair a dent.

Will disconnecting the battary and pulling the fuses be enough? engine computer?

Is there any danger of setting off the air bags?

Some PRO help here please.

Thanks !

Cool

I am not a PRO, but I do have a brother who is a VERY experienced welder.

He told me that if you are using MIG, TIG or "stick" there is a device that body shops use that protects the truck's electronics.

He can't remember the name of the device, but he is going to ask one of the shops he does business with what it is called.

I'll post the info tomorrow, if you still need it.

By the way, my brother also told me that most late model trucks have frames that are heat treated and hardened, and it is not advisable to weld on it.

They stopped welding them and started using bolts instead.
