Remote Entry Range

What is the operational range of your remote entry thing?

Are we all happy with this?

My dealer claims that it should only work nearer than 15ft.

I do not agree I think it should work to nearly 100ft.

I know a few weekend ago at a friends house, I accidently set off my panic alarm, with my key and fob in my pocket, I must have pressed the buttons against the chair arm.
I was on the back porch, and the truck was directly on the other side fo the house. I'd say it was about 45', through the house to my truck. Rough guess, 25' deep front yard, and 20' deep house ??

Odd thing, I was sitting there thinking, why doesn't this @ss with the alarm going off, go out and shut it off, it is really anoying.
Oooppps, I was the @ss, I had never used it, so I had no idea what it did when the button was pressed.

So I'd say at least 45' is the range on mine, signal travling through a house

this is the very reason I haven't used mine. I was having anxiety every time I touched that thing in my pocket thinking I've unlocked my doors and now someone is cleaning me out. Much more peaceful for me not having it. And oh, when my wife bought her CRV honda I convinced her that she didn't need that and I think I saved quite a few hundred dollars.

Keep it simple,
Joseph

Dang, I can't imagine actually putting the key in my door. I think my door lock is actually still a virgin. But I know what you mean about accidently unlocking it, that's why my alarm is on passive arm. Automatically locks the doors 60 seconds after a door is opened or unlocked and not opened...

At the resturant that I go to, tonight I parked as far away as I could in the parking lot across the street.
Tried it, and it worked just fine ( un-lock, then relock with the light flash confirm as the test ).

Paced it off, and it was 86' of range, shooting from inside the resturant through Low-E glass.

The additional distance posted, beyond what I had before got me curious as to how far it would work. Next time I'll try 90' to 100' if I can.

Cool

Paced mine off at the store the other evening: 96' or so, depending on how accurate my steps are.

By the way, you guys might think I'm crazy, but this is a trick I learned to extend the range of the remote:

Hold the remote under your chin before you activate it. I guess it uses your body as an antenna. I use this to find my truck at the airport parking garage sometimes.

You know I had a 2002 FX4 Supercrew and its keyless fob would work at least 100 feet, I liked the range. Recently I traded for the identical truck but a 2003 and I'm lucky its fob works while standing beside the truck, very frustrating. I've replaced batteries in the fobs and even bought a new one but the same result.

Oh that chin trick does work!!!!
