Dash Lights

I have a couple lights in the dash of my 97 4x4 that are out. Anyone ever replace these before. Had a friend get 3 replaced on her explorer and they charged $90 for labor, when the bulbs only cost about $3. Don't want to pay that if it's within reason to do it myself.

I didnt change bulbs but I have had the dash apart before where I could have. I dont see paying someone 90 to change a couple bulbs. If you have some tools and a little time change them yourself.

That was all labor I would guess. Taking out the dash can be somewhat of a PITA.

Check the sylvania site for the types. I think the general panel lighting is a 37 ( like the cup holder ash try light ) and the indicator lamps ( high beams, seat belt, CEL light etc ) are 194s.

The Sylvania site does not give a specific count.

The EVTM for the 2001 shows :
Brake
Air Bag
Charge
Fasten Seatbelt
low fuel
low oil pressure
MIL / CEL lamp
4x4 low range ( if it is a 4x4 )
cruise
4x4 high range ( if it is a 4x4 )
door ajar
anti-lock
high beam indicator
left turn indicator
right turn indicator

I would guess this to be the 194 list, but that is a guess on my part

The general illumination lamps show 7 lamps for the cluster I think this is the #37 bulb.

I don't know if you are just out to replace the 3 that are out, or all of them while you are back there, just wanted to try to gie you a good idea of how many to buy f you were going through all of them.

Good luck
