PATS Problem
I need some help. I've got a 99 F150 and it won't start. I disconnected the battery to replace the fuel filter. After reconnecting the battery, the engine won't turn over. The battery cables are tight and the fan, gauges and radio work, but the engine won't turn over.
I called the Ford roadside assistance and they tried to walk me through a PATS reset, but it didn't work. This happened before when I reset the computer after installing a K&N filter. Roadside assistance walked me through a reset procedure, but I don't remember it.
Anyone have any idea how to get it started besides towing to the dealer??? Next time, I will pull the fuse to the fuel pump instead of disconnecting the battery.
Thanks,
Dave

It turns out that it was not the PATS. After numerous calls to local dealers, one service manager told me that I had an aftermarket alarm. I looked under the dash, found the control unit and fuses and pulled the fuses. The truck started on first crank!
I bought the truck new from the dealer and was not told or charged for the alarm system. I noticed they split the wire wrap to splice into the electrical system. Now to figure out who manufactured the alarm and how to reset it.
