AM Radio Static

When I first purchased my '97 from new, the AM reception was perfect but over time it has developed static to the point where now you simply cannot listen to the AM band while the engine has running. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

It could be a couple of things but more than likely if you pull the radio you will find the antenna connection is rusted. There are also resistors or something like that on the coil packs to stop engine noise. I have to ask though: your still listening to AM?

He He just kidding.

The coil pack has a capacitor ,which on my 2003 is 6" below the pack. I would first check all connections, antenna, ground etc. then you might conatct the people at www.fordemc.com. I,m still trying to do something about static in my amateur radio installation.
