Question Auto rolldown window switch

I just bought a 2003 f150 XLt Stx edition truck. After having it a day or so I noticed that the driverside power window switch that says auto does not do the automatic rolldown function. I also talked to a friend of mine who has the same truck and his doesn't work either. Is this normal? What needs to be done to fix this?

I would have it looked it if it does not function correctly.

The drivers side window switch is actually routed through the GEM module, so it is not like it is a simple thing to look at.

I assume you are pressing all the way down once on the back of the switch to make this work. It is a 3rd position in the switch with a different set of contacts and a different input circuit to the GEM module vs the regular down position, that is the only reason I make note of that.

If the auto down is not working you can try to test and see if the switch contact is bad if you want, I can post which pin to jumper to ground if you'd like, else you can just take it back to the dealer and have them look at it.

Good luck

Auto window woes

I have a 2000 F150 and took it in for the same prob. They told me it works fine. They said some switches have to be pushed twice and some have to be pushed down harder to activate the auto mechanism. Hopefully thats your solution.

Mine is VERY easy to make the Autodown activate. No double touch... no firm push.

Take it back to the stealership. You're definately still under warranty. They'll simply replace the switch. Very common problem.
