Installing factory remote locks on '03 F250

Hi,

I just signed a deal on an '03 Superduty and I was wondering if there is a cheap way to add the remote door locks to it.

It is the XLT so it already has the power locks.

I also have a set of ford factory remotes from my (totaled) '02 SuperDuty. I'd like to reuse them.

Is there a module I can install to get the remote locks to work?

Thanks,
Charlie

PS. I am a big fan of the superduties...
getting:
'03 F250 SD CC XLT FX4
and previously:
'02 F250 SD CC XLT
'99 F250 Scab SD XL

I think Remote Keyless entry is a Standard Feature on that truck (the Advanced Security Group should be std as part of the FX4 pkg or at least all FX4 SD's I have seen had it) you shouldn't have to add it.

And, yes, you can add additional remotes using the ones you have.

If you do have to add it on, you'll be better off with a quality aftermarket alarm system that includes remote keyless.

This one does not have the pkg

According to the invoice this truck does not have the convenience group. I'm picking it up tonight, so I will see for sure.

Thanks,
Charlie

Keyless is part of the Advanced Security Group on the SD line.

I am curious if you got it?

If not, I'd reccomend a Secuity System from DEI with the Keyless Feature. You'll get extra security and the keyless entry you are looking for.

I picked the truck up Monday night and it doesn't have the remote locks. It doesn't have the security package either. Bummer.

The dealer checked with his service guy and there is a kit that I can get for $189 that will add them.

I will check out the kind you posted first if I decide to add it.

Thanks,
Charlie

Can you recommend a certain model of the DEI system to look for?

Thanks,
Charlie

Bummer on the keyless.

The Ford kit isn't bad but it uses non--standard FOrd remotes, but as long as it works its ok.

DEI is a parent company for well known security alarms like Viper, Clifford, and Hornet.

For your case an alarm like the VIPER 850V will give you shock protection, parking light flash on arm/disarm, and keyless entry.

Or, if the alarm isn't important, you can get the Viper 210HV gives just keyless entry with a starter kill module for security. SHould be able to be found for about $100.

Check Circuit City and Best Buy for a decent selection or grap the yellow pages.

I agree with pw1981. For the price you are going to pay at the dealer you can get a decent shock security system with a random code electric door lock feature built in. A good place to price shop is U-bid.com. You can find some pritty good buys on last years models and they are still plenty good.
