Optima Bats.

Who has them, and which one do you have...RED TOP or YELLOW deep cycle?

Is the deep-cycle overkill for the street driven vehicle? I'm installing E-Fans and may want to run them with the engine off, so what's your suggestion? Should I spend $50 more on a deep cycle?

Right on!

mf150,

You might want to read this first;
http://auto.indiamart.com/auto-consu...batteries.html

Then check this out. http://www.optimabatteries.com/usingOptima/index.asp

What do the e-fans draw when running? <20 amps? If it is say 20 amps the yellow top will run 1 fan for about 150 minutes. You can run it down 3000 times. The red top will run a fan for 130 minutes. if you drive it every day for a long enough period to recharge it then the red tom would be fine. Just don't run the fans with the motor off for too long.
Also the CCA, Cold Cranking Amps, for the red top is 800 and only 650 for the yellow. If you play in the cold this could be important.

JMC-

I've decided to go with the yellow top (deep cycle) bat. It hardly if ever gets below 40*F here in SF, so I think I should be fine. I've also upgraded to a Motorcraft 130 amp alternator. I'll be running a trans cooler fan, two 16" PPI kit and the heater, headlights, and 2000 watt amp, so just to be safe...

Thanks for your responce. Sorry it took so long to update.
